Technology and Learning Showcase
This showcase is designed to display coursework and projects that I have created from my time spent in the Master of Arts and Education program through Michigan State University. My area of concentration placed an emphasis on learning and technology, so the majority of the focus of my work is based on my use of various technologies. I have also included select essays based on hypermedia resources that were studied in the program. You will see a variety of examples that reflect my current skills and abilities in several ways. Developer's Notebook for Language Arts Course
I utilized CourseSites to aid in my creation. This was meant to be a hybrid course, blending online learning with face to face interaction. The main focus of my course was informational texts. Throughout the quarter, students were exposed to a variety of engaging literacy activities that allowed them to explore texts while practicing key reading skills. Creating this course provided me with valuable experience in teaching meaningful language arts lessons with technology.
Class Dojo Positive Behavior Plan
I created a feasible technology plan to be implemented at my elementary school. My project focused on utilizing Class Dojo in order to create a clear and concrete positive behavior plan for my students. I described my overall vision in great detail while providing explanations relating to each part of my plan. After approval and professional development, the plan was put into place to encourage and support appropriate behaviors within the classroom setting.
Technology and Society Essay
In one of my most engaging final papers I pondered over my new awareness of the term "learning society". I then composed an essay describing the relationship most people in our society have with technology. I feel even though we rely on technology on a daily basis, we still need to find a balance and peace in our busy lives. This is especially true in the realm of education. From my time spent teaching and learning with technology my thinking has changed greatly, and my work has benefited from this new found realization.
Personal Creative "I" Journal
I spent a significant amount of time studying ways of evoking my own unique mode of thought. I created original lessons as I reflected on my current teaching practices. As a way to document my new skills, I kept this personal journal. The entries outline my progress in developing my creativity. I also used this as a place to document and kept track of ideas I could incorporate into my professional practices. You can view examples of classroom lessons and activities on my complete blog here.
Nature and Design of Compelling Experiences Blog
I gained knowledge of how to design my lessons in order to create more compelling experiences for my own students. This really helped me in creating more thought provoking language arts activities. I had opportunities to take videos, shoot photographs, and analyze what makes an experience compelling in nature. This particular blog has several unique and thoughtful projects that display my skills. You can explore my work by clicking on the image to the left.
